| | Jetting or Driving 30" conductor pipe ? « Thread Started on May 29, 2010, 4:16pm » | |
Good morning,
I am working on the preparation of an infill platform well to be drilled with a jack-up rig. The field hass 3 platforms with 40 wells. The infill well is planned to be drilled on a free spare slot without conductor pipe (CP). No pipe was drived during the driving campaign for some reasons that I will not communicate here. Today There is a dilemma on the way to run the conductor pipe.
Option 1: Driving the conductor The main drawback is the lack of control of the trajectory with the risk of colliding with a neighbouring well.
Option 2: Jetting in a larger diameter (with an under-reamer) than the CP outer diameter. Then the CP will be run and cemented. The jetting BHA will have a gyro while drilling tool to mitigate the collision risk. The main challenge here is that we will be riserless. Therefore we can not monitor the cuttings.
Please share you experience and advise on your recommended option.
