 F/C What does it mean?
« Thread Started on Dec 21, 2007, 4:39pm »

Hi there,

On my drilling report, I sometimes encounter this term "F/C hole OK". Can anyone tell me what does it mean?

Thanks for the help.

Castro,

Bams is most likely correct. It depends which part of your drilling report you are referring to.

If its the bit wear section FC = "Float crested wear" for the bit's dull characteristics.

Go to this link and download the pdf (Drilling_Abb.s.pdf) with all the abbreviations.

The use of abbreviations must be limited to context. Few abbreviations can stand alone. That is unlike an an acronym such as UNESCO.
If the letter FC are in a statement then the they will tell you imediately what they stand for, e.g., send me a new FC will probably mean a Float Collar. However if in the remarks on the DDR you read POOH FC @ 1200m 15 min OK. It does not refer to the Float shoe.
Keep asking questions to confirm what you understand, However, you could have worked this out yourself.Another point. SLM is 'Steel Line Measure' and refers to Measuring pipe out of hole and the term 'strapping out'. A note in the DDR could be 'POOH, SLM, OK.

Good luck with your career.

CEMENTING PHASE? IT REFERS TO F/COLLAR
DRILLING GOING ON / TRIPPING THEN FLOW CHECK
